OmniAir Certification Services, Inc. Issues First Certification Award

Orlando, FL – OmniAir Certification Services, Inc. (OCS), the test-affiliate of OmniAir Consortium, on September 10th awarded 3M the first “OmniAir-Certified” certificates for products tested under a toll technology certification program.

The certification program was designed to ensure tolling tag and reader interoperability (IOP) across equipment vendors and toll facilities that choose to deploy equipment certified as compliant to the “6C Requirements Document” as defined by the 6C Toll Operators Committee.  It is based on the ISO/IEC 18000-6 (Type C) RFID protocol.

The test program included testing for baseline and applied interoperability.  Baseline IOP ensures that tag and reader pairs can transition successfully from one state to another and to validate memory data.  Applied IOP ensures that tags and readers can withstand the toll environment and includes performance, UV, humidity and temperature testing under various parameters.

3M (which recently acquired FSTech from Federal Signal Corp) submitted the following tolling devices for testing: UHF Reader Model ID 5204; UHF Reader Model ID 6204; Headlamp Mount Tag Model ID-HMT-NT-L3S; & Windshield Mount Tag Model ID-WMT-NS-L3S.  For more information call Tim McGuckin at 703-766-5005.
